Library Director, Munish Hyseni, in his opening speech, congratulated all the book friends, including readers, publishers and all institutions that have contributed to the opening of the new library, the library that is performing its holy mission for 70 years in Pristina. He wished mutual care for this object and for it to serve as a growth for readership as well as spreading of knowledge among the younger generations.
In his speech the new Director of Culture in the Municipality of Pristina, Besart Vllahinja, said that this well worthwhile project with a surface of 5800 square meters except of the corner for children and teenagers also has a reading room with 250 seats for passionate readers, lots of books with space and digital tools for internet access as well as a room for special events. He also announced that the Directorate of Culture will allocate 50 thousand euro for the provision of new titles of professional books for enriching the general fund of the library.
Sylejman Pireva the former Director and one of the veteran employees and at the same time assembly member in Municipal Assembly in Pristina, also greeted the opening of the library. He also is the assembly member that has raised the library issue in every meeting of the Municipal Assembly.
At the end, the floor was given to the Mayor, Shpend Ahmeti who expressed satisfaction with the opening of this object and except students and young people he also invited readers of all generations to use this magnificent object. He informed that this object is initiated by the previous administration and has been almost completed, but the reason for non-functioning of the object were problems with the contractor with whom the contract was terminated after numerous failures. Mayor Ahmeti said that “Koha” Group has expressed a desire to make a donation of books from their publications so using this occasion he also invited other publishers to donate their books for the library as well as citizens who have a rich fund of books in their private libraries.
In the end, Shpend Ahmeti, took the opportunity to thank the current Director of Culture, Saranda Bogujevci, not only for the Library but her overall contribution during her work as a Director.
Yesterday, in the afternoon the new building of the Library “Hivzi Sylejmani” was inaugurated in Dardania.
