Prishtina, January, 28, 2009 – The Minister of Energy and Mining, Justina Shiroka – Pula expected today a delegation of the French Economic Mission for Region of Ballkan supervised by the chief of the Regional Economic Service, Paul Hunsinger and Economic attache, Jean Marike Bellat.
The topic of this meeting was the development of the Energy Sector and Mines Sector in Kosovo, the actual projects and plans for future.
The French Economic Mission representatives are interested to know more about the process of raising the new generating capacities of the energy, privatisation of the KEK assets and the mining Sector conditions, respectively the complex Trepça.
From her side, Minister Pula informed them with the progress achieved during the year 2008 and the Kosovo Government initiatives for reforming and restructing the energy Sector. “The work for building new generating capacities from Lignite is on continuance on the frame of the project for building the thermo central “New Kosova”. Within year 2009 we foresee to select the investor, and at the middle of year 2010 we foresee to close up the financial agreement” said Minister Pula. She also announced that the Government will pay a special attention to the private investment for building the thermo centrals”.
Minister Pula has mentioned as priorities the regional integration of the energy system of Kosovo on the frame of the Energy Community Treaty for increasing the energy efficiency.
Concerning the Mining Sector, Minister Pula said that Government is finishing the legal frame for restructing this Sector, to prepare it for the possible investment.
Minister Pula had expressed the celerity of the Ministry of Energy and Mining (MEM0 for a closer and open coorporation by greeting the assistance of the French Government and the support with the concrete projects.
The representatives of the French Economic Mission for Region of Ballkan said that all the received information they will accompany to the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Foreing Affairs and the french investor in the way that they could have the proper information for the possibility of investing in the Sector of Energy and Mining of Kosovo.
