The Czech Republic helps the energy sector with 70.000 Euros

Prishtina, October 31, 2008 – On Friday, in the presence of the Minister of Energy and Mining (MEM) Justina Shiroka Pula, the Minister of Returns and Communities, Mr. Sasha Rashiq and the Mayor of Kamenica Begzat Sinani, within the premises of the Czech Embassy in Prishtina, an agreement was signed by Janina Hrebickova, Charge D’Affair at the Czech Embassy, and Moris Dewoolf, UNDP Director for Kosovo, on repairs of the energy network in Berivojce, the Municipality of Kamenica,a donation of the Czech Republic which amounts to about 70 thousand euro.

The agreement on the repair of the network also marked a first partnership between the Czech Republic and UNDP in Kosovo. On this occasion, the Minister of Energy and Mining, Justina Shiroka Pula, stated that this donation is welcome, thanking the representative of the Czech Republic, Mrs. Hrebickova  for the donation. “This investment is the best example of countries’ interest to help the Republic of Kosovo, an investment which shall help in improving the energy situation in Kosovo”, stated Minister Pula.

On the other hand, Janina Hrebickova, the Charge D’Affair of the Czech Embassy, stated that this is only the beginning of the Czech assistance for Kosovo. “The Czech Republic is willing to support Kosovo in its efforts to get to the international standards”, stated Hrebickova, adding that interethnic tolerance is the ground for sustainable economic development. Otherwise, the overhaul of electricity network in Berivojcë, the donation of the Czech Republic, is within the frame of a €4 million Program, which aims to support development, infrastructure, employment, health care and education in Kosovo.
