Prishtina, November 27, 2008 – At the Ministry of Energy and Mining (MEM) was held a workpeople “ Opening the Energy Electricity Market” in Kosovo, the purpose of which was the preparation for the future phase of OEMM. Present at this workpeople where MEM Officials, ZRrE, KOSTT, KEK and local business representatives.
The deputy Minister of Energy and Mining Mr.Blerim Rexha, said by this occasion that the Government Politics concerning the consumption of the energy is oriented on protecting the House-hold consumers, for the only fact that they comprise the 75% of the overall consumption in Kosovo. While, Faik Nahi, Adviser of MEM, said that the tariff issues should be regulated gradually with regard to the upraised eventual prices.
Director of MEM Energy Department, Mr. Salvador Elmazi mentioned that the Government has obligations towards TKE for the OEEM, despite of the the technical conditions that we are. He added, that also understands the business community concerns about the problems they have concerning the sustainable energy supply.
From their side, the business community representatives expressed their concerns about the sustainable energy supply, something that according to them has a negative effect toward their economic activities. They asked from KEK to review the tariffs (summer-winter), because according to them, it is maleficience.
From this workpeople it was proposed a program for “Opening the Electricity Energy in Kosovo”.

5-th step on 2014/2015: the remnant category of 2-nd category of consumers supplied with 0.4 kV.
Kosovo is one of the nine (9) Places that signed ” Establishing the Energy Community Treaty”, apropos this is obligated to applicate the European Directives No.2003/54, that has to do with opening the energy market.
Opening of the Electricity Energy Market in Kosovo has started on 2006 and the critereas to take the privilege consumer status are determinated according the administrative Directives compiled by MEM.
