Prishtinë, February 19, 2009 – Changes in energetic happened. This was the ascertainment of the Prime Minister of Kosovo Mr. Hashim Thaçi for the situation on the Energy Sector during a common conference with the Minister of Energy and Mining (MEM) Justina Pula – Shiroka.
He claimed that the energy situation found by the Government that manages the energy was in a chaotic condition with a little bit hope for changing, but the changes happened with reference to upgrowth of the production for 5% on 2008 comparing the 2007 year. Thaçi mentioned that the upraising of the bill collection during 2008 at abort 135 Milion Euros, comparing to year 2007, that is arround 8.26% or 21 Milion Euros more. The coal growth production, on 17% more comparing to the year 2007. And the losts on the energy sector are minimized for 6%, from 47% to 41%.
“ I want to accentuate that year 2008 on the energy sector was the most successful year in afterwar period of Kosovo. I also want to say that no matter the upraising of the energy electricity from 30% to 35%, this year is already decided to begin the new project of the energy electricity, project of New Kosova, that would ensure the energy electricity for Kosovo for 24 hours, “ said Prime Minister Thaçi. Concerning the selection of KEK Director he said that the new headship will take the right decisions for KEK Managing.
From her side, the Minister of Energy and Mining, Justina Pula – Shiroka said that one analyse was done on 2000, and on the frame of this analyse the parameters shows that there are increasing from 10% to 12%, startin from the production, consumption, billing collection and coal production. She mentioned that it was imported less energy electricity than last year, or in fund was 51 Milion €.
Minister Pula clarified the position of the Government concerning the energy price. “ The price is not determined by the Government, but the Rregulatory Office basing the International methodology calculation, it means according the request made by KEK and KOSST, said Minister, adding that the energy price should cover the costs of the production and spreading of the energy.
Number one of the Energetics of Kosovo said that they still haven’t taken any official request about how much would the energy electricity price increase, so it is still early to talk about the energy electricity rate or price.
The Minister had also mentioned the actual debt to the Energetic Corporation that approaches 310 Milion €, from which 120 Milion from the serb enclaves.
